The Cast Iron Reversible Griddle Pan from Andrew James is perfect for expertly grilling steaks, salmon, chicken, vegetables, and even pancakes. With 2 cooking surfaces, 1 side is ridged for searing and cooking meats to perfection and chargrilling vegetables. You can turn the pan over to cook on the flat griddle pan, which is ideal for frying off mushrooms and tomatoes or for cooking griddle pan pancakes.

This large pan has a cooking area that measures 42cm x 19cm, as well as 2 integral handles to allow for easy lifting. They can also be used to hang the griddle pan when not in use.

The non-stick surfaces of the griddle pan make for easy cooking and simple cleaning. For your convenience, there is an integral drip tray to capture any excess oil during cooking, whatever side you are using.

What Are Griddle Pans Used for?

A griddle pan uses your stove top for heat and transfers heat evenly, and features ridges to simulate the cooking surface of an outdoor BBQ. It can be used on induction hobs, gas and electric hobs, and on BBQs. You can also store it away when not in use.

How Do I Use My Griddle Pan?

With 2 cooking surfaces, 1 side is ridged for searing and cooking meats to perfection and chargrilling vegetables. The flat side is perfect for frying off vegetables or cooking pancakes. When using the pan for the first time, apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the surface and pre-heat slowly to season the pan. After use, clean the pan with hot water and a soft cloth or stiff nylon brush. Do not use detergent.

Is Using a Griddle Pan Healthy?

With a griddle pan, you don’t have to use as much oil as you would in a standard pan.

How Do I Clean My Griddle Pan?

After use, clean the pan with hot water and a soft cloth or stiff nylon brush. Never clean the griddle pan in a dishwasher or use detergents to clean it. Towel dry it immediately and apply a light coating of oil while it is still warm to keep it seasoned and to prevent any rusting.

Grilled Chicken Skewers with Tzatziki

Prep: 10 Mins, Cook: 15 Mins, Serves: 8 
Ingredients: 4 Skinless Chicken Breasts, 1 Lemon, 2 Tsp. Oregano, 1 Garlic Clove, 1 Small Yellow Pepper, 1 Small Red Pepper, Wholemeal Tortilla Wraps, Baby Spinach Leaves, A Few Sprigs of Flat-Leaf Parsley
For the Tzatziki: ½ Cucumber, ¼ Garlic Clove, 4 Tbsp. Greek Yoghurt, 1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

You will also need 8 bamboo skewers. 

  1. Cut your chicken and peppers into similar-sized pieces.
  2. Add lemon, garlic, and oregano to your chicken and leave to chill in the fridge for 15 minutes or so.
  3. Heat up your griddle pan while you thread the chicken onto the skewers, alternating between chicken and red and yellow pepper.
  4. Griddle for 10 minutes, turning halfway.
  5. While your skewers are cooking, cut the cucumber into long lengths for your tzatziki, discarding the watery seedy core. 
  6. Grate into the bowl and grate the ¼ garlic clove, and season generously and stir in the Greek yoghurt. 
  7. Drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil.
  8. Serve the skewers hot off the griddle with the dip or take the chicken and peppers off the skewers, leave to cool and put into the wraps with some tzatziki, spinach, and parsley. 

 

Grilled Vegetable Panini

Ingredients: Zucchini Pepper, Bell Pepper, Baguette, Mozzarella 

  1. Heat up your griddle pan while you chop up your peppers.
  2. Grill your veg before placing them between 2 slices of your baguette. 
  3. Add a few slices of mozzarella.
  4. Put the sandwiches on the griddle pan, using a heavy skillet as a weight so you can achieve that signature grilled look.

 

Griddle Scones with Honey

Ingredients: 200g Self-Raising Flour, 25g Butter, ½ Tsp. Ground Cardamom (around 10 Pods, Ground), 1 Egg, Around 75ml Milk, 25g Light Muscovado Sugar, Butter and a Honeycomb or Jar of Honey to Serve 

  1. Put your flour and cardamom in a bowl and rub in the butter, and add sugar.
  2. Beat the egg in a measuring jug and then pour in the milk to make it up to 100ml/31/2 fl oz. 
  3. Pour into the bowl gradually, stirring first with a knife and then your hands to make a soft, not sticky, dough.
  4. Knead until smooth on a floured work surface.
  5. Divide the dough into 3 and roll into circles the thickness of a £1 coin. 
  6. Cut into quarters and heat a heavy-bottomed frying pan to medium hot.
  7. Cook the scones in batches for a couple of minutes each side until golden brown.
  8. Serve with butter and drizzled with honey.
