How Can I Make the Perfect Cocktail?

Measure out your ingredients accurately by using the 25ml and 50ml stainless steel measures as part of the cocktail supplies included. The wooden muddler can be used to crush down fresh ingredients such as mint leaves or fruits to infuse those delicious flavours in the mixture. Once you have added the necessary ingredients to your stainless steel cocktail shaker, cover it with the lid and then shake vigorously to make sure everything is mixed perfectly together.  

Use cracked or crushed ice rather than ice cubes for drinks that require blending, to save damaging the blender blades. 

Clear drinks are normally stirred while cloudy drinks - those containing egg white, cream, fresh fruit or fruit juices, thick liqueurs, or milk - are mixed in a blender or shaken. Shaken drinks are often strained before serving to remove the ice, fragments of fruit, or anything that may spoil the appearance of the drink. 

Is There an Art to Shaking the Shaker? 

Shaking involves placing all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, together with plenty of cubed or cracked ice, which serves both to chill the drink and to act as a beater in the shaker. Holding the shaker in 2 hands, shake it vigorously using a quick pumping action until the outside of the shaker is frosty. To avoid a big mess, never shake fizzy ingredients.

Made of either metal or acrylic, cocktail shakers often come with their own built-in strainer. Blending involves whizzing all the ingredients together with crushed or cracked ice in either an electric blender or liquidiser. Never blend carbonated soft drinks or champagne or your mixture will explode. Add these ingredients only after blending. 

How about the Perfect Serve? 

When it comes to serving your drinks, the hawthorn strainer that is included will remove any large pieces of fruit or ice while preventing them from unbalancing the flavour of your drink. You can also use the twisted spoon to elegantly pour in cordials or liqueurs in and then mix the final drink before tasting.

Alcoholic Cocktails

Singapore Sling

Serves 1

  • 6-8 Ice Cubes
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • Juice of ½ Orange
  • 1 Measure of Cherry Brandy
  • 3 Measures of Gin
  • 3 Drops of Angostura Bitters
  • Soda Water (to Top Up)
  • Lemon Juice (to Decorate) 

Put 4-6 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Pour the lemon and orange juices, cherry brandy, and gin over the ice and add the bitters. Shake the mixture until a frost forms. Put 2 fresh ice cubes in a hurricane glass. Strain the cocktail into the glass and top up with soda water. Decorate with the lemon slice and serve. 

Iced Lemon and Mint Vodka 

Serves 6

  • 4 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
  • 125ml (4 fl oz) Lemon Cordial
  • 125ml (4 fl oz) Chilled Vodka 
  • Ice Cubes 
  • Tonic Water to Top Up
  • A Few Mint Sprigs to Decorate 

Pour the lemon juice, lemon cordial, and chilled vodka into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Pour into 6 tall glasses half-filled with ice cubes. Top up with tonic water, add a few mint sprigs, and serve immediately. 

Pina Colada

Serves 2

  • 4 Measures of White Rum
  • 4 Measures of Coconut Milk
  • 4 Measures of Pineapple Juice 
  • Crushed Ice
  • Pineapple Wedges to Decorate

Put the rum, coconut milk, and pineapple juice in a blender with some crushed ice and blend until slushy. Serve in hurricane glasses and decorate with pineapple wedges.


Serves 10-12

  • Ice Cubes
  • 2 Bottles of Light Spanish Red Wine (Chilled)
  • 125ml (4fl oz) Brandy (Optional)
  • 450ml (¾ Pint) of Soda Water (Chilled)
  • Fruit in Season (such as Apples, Oranges, Pears, Lemons, Peaches, Strawberries) 
  • Sliced Orange Slices to Decorate 

Put the ice in a large bowl and pour over the wine and brandy, if using. Stir. Add soda water to taste and float the fruit on top. Serve in tall glasses and decorate with orange slices. 


Serves 1 

  • Ice Cubes 
  • 1 ½ Measures of Citron Vodka
  • 1 Measure of Cointreau
  • 1 ½ Measures of Cranberry Juice
  • ¼ Measure of Fresh Lime Juice
  • Lime Slice to Decorate

Put the ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, add the citron vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and lime juice and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and add a lime slice. 

Bahamas Punch

Serves 4

  • Juice of 4 Lemons
  • 4 Teaspoons of Sugar Syrup
  • 12 Drops of Angostura Bitters
  • 2 Teaspoons of Grenadine
  • 350ml (12 fl oz) Golden or White Rum
  • 4 Orange Slices
  • 4 Lemon Slices
  • Cracked Ice 
  • Grated Nutmeg

Pour the lemon juice and sugar syrup into a mixing glass. Shake in the bitters then add the grenadine, rum, and fruit. Stir and chill. To serve, fill 4 old-fashioned glasses with cracked ice, pour in the punch without straining, and sprinkle each with nutmeg.

Hot Toddy Supreme 

Serves 4 

  • 8 Measures of Stone’s Ginger Wine
  • 4 Measures of Brandy
  • 4 Tablespoons of Double Cream
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 Teaspoons of Grated Orange Rind

Gently heat the ginger wine and brandy in a saucepan to just below boiling point. Pour into 4 warmed cups or glasses and gently pour a tablespoon of cream over the back of a warm spoon on to the surface of each. Add the cinnamon sticks and sprinkle the orange rind over the top to decorate. 


Serves 2

  • 2 ½ Measures of Tequila
  • 1 ½ Measures of Green Creme de Menthe 
  • 2 ½ Measures of Fresh Lime Juice
  • Ice Cubes
  • Lemon Rind Spirals to Decorate

Pour the tequila, creme de menthe, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Add some ice cubes, shake vigorously for about 10 seconds, and then strain into 2 chilled cocktail glasses. Decorate each with a lemon rind spiral. 



Serves 1

  • Crushed Ice
  • 1 Measure of Maple Syrup or Clear Honey
  • 4 Teaspoons of Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 Measure of Orange Juice
  • 1 Measure of Apple Juice
  • Cocktail Cherry to Decorate

Put some crushed ice in a cocktail shaker and add the maple syrup or honey, lime juice, orange juice, and apple juice. Shake well and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Decorate with a cherry on a cocktail stick. 

Pink Melon Delight

Serves 2-3 

  • 150g (5 oz) Melon (Cut into Dice)
  • 150g (5 oz) Strawberries (Plus Extra to Decorate)
  • 2-3 Scoops of Orange Sorbet
  • 300ml (½ Pint) of Ginger Ale

Put the melon, strawberries, and orange sorbet in a blender and blend at high speed for 15 seconds. Gently stir in the ginger ale, pour into wine glasses, and decorate each with a strawberry. 


Serves 8

  • 6 Limes 
  • 125g (4 oz) Caster Sugar
  • 750ml (1 ¼ Pints) of Boiling Water 
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Ice Cubes
  • Lime Wedges and Mint Leaves to Decorate 

Halve the limes then squeeze the juice into a large jug. Put the squeezed lime halves into another heatproof jug with the sugar and boiling water and leave to infuse for 15 minutes. Add the salt, give the infusion a good stir, then strain it into the jug holding the lime juice. Add half a dozen ice cubes, cover and chill for 2 hours. To serve, place 3-4 ice cubes in each glass and pour the limeade over. Add a lime wedge and a mint leaf to decorate.
