I have only used it once so far - to make a Victoria Sponge cake which my family demolished in a few minutes! It's very substantial, easy to operate and clean. It also looks very good - not much difference to me between this and the £400 ones to look at.As a fledgeling cake maker, I did not want to spend the earth and it seems that mixers priced between this one and the top of the range were not rated highly in reviews.
Good product with exceellent delivery again
an excellent machine stylish and well designed backed up with wonderful customer service.
This was excellent value. This is the cheapest but works very well. I can only guess at how long it will last - I suspect I will need a new one in a few years. It has a cheap feel about it and the material looks very thin. Instead of Stainless steel there is a lot of aluminium, which I wasn't expecting. The speed control knob feels sturdy enough and the motor goes like the clappers on full speed, probably fast enough for any recipe, the splashguard attachment is handy. It has all the attachments required, which are easy to attach, dismantle and clean, even though they look like they might not be.
I bought the Andrew James stand food mixer in cream, not red. It was delivered on schedule, was well packed, and was exactly as shown on their website. It works very well, and looks beautiful. It's exceptionally good value.
powerful food mixer with added benefit of a large mixing bowl now I can make larger quantities for a family
We have used this 5 times now for bread and cakes. It's spot on , no let Down's at all . Comes with all the stirrers needed.
Wow a great machine i can now make fantastic cakes and a excellent price
I got the red one. Very weighty, powerful machine. Bread dough done in 3 minutes. Whipped cream in what seems like seconds. Egg whites whipped swiftly to perfection. Cake batters beaten to lovely fluffyness. Really delighted with the results and the price and quality.
Does what it says on the label. Good value for money. Yes a little noisy but what food mixer isn't. Well made and the bonus of 'suction cups' to stabilise the unit when using maximum speed. Never seen that before. Very happy with purchase
best performance tool. I specially like the beater with wings as it mix thoroughly. Highly recommended.
Excellent product and great vslue
(Review by my wife for whom I bought the mixer) Because of arthritis in my hands, and my old hand-held electric whisk deciding to play up, I decided to get a basic stand electric mixer to help making my cakes and desserts a little easier. I researched the internet for something that would not cost an arm and a leg and also just had basic functions and attachments. Andrew James came up on a few reviews and having bought a couple of items before from them (both excellent) I decided to go with the 5.2 Litre Stand Food Mixer with Mixing Attachments. The price had been reduced by £37, which was a bonus. Ordering was very easy on the website, delivery was quick, and the mixer was well packed. The mixer is aesthetically pleasing and has a good range of colours and basic attachments. Although knowing the dimensions and weight, it is a little chunkier than I visualised, but it is fine. Assembly and Use instructions are very basic but adequate. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the switches which had marks on them, and don't look like they will stand up to much wear and tear (cleaning too vigorously) before the surface will come off, but time will tell. The bowl and attachments are a little fiddly to get off/on but are okay. The removable splatter guard – not so much. I expected some resistance when turning to remove the splatter guard (so you can’t accidentally knock it off), but even with enough force which moved the whole machine, it will not budge. If I try any harder it will crack the plastic, so I will have to clean it in situ. It may be that I just have a Friday afternoon machine. The basic attachments: Dough Mixer Hook & Flexible Beater Blade look fine, but I haven’t tried these yet. Aluminium Beater looks poor quality, but time will tell. Balloon Whisk is good, used this for whipping double cream to a thick consistency (perfect); easy to clean whisk. These four attachments look like they will cover all the functions I will need for baking in the home. The machine is amazingly noisy, so much that my husband came down from playing his (loud) computer game upstairs to see what was going on in the utility room. As most recipes will not require it to be on too long, hopefully I will get used to it before I go deaf. There are a lot more flashy mixers (with lots extras) for a lot, lot more money on the internet, but having paid £74.99 for this stand food mixer, and notwithstanding the couple of minor points (hence not giving it 5 stars), I think this machine is value for money. It is a good looking machine, with good variety of basic attachments, which hopefully will serve me (and my guests) well in my future cake and pastry making.
Efficient cake making...basic machine but great value
Beautiful and efficient mixer. I recommend!
