Easy-to-Use Electric Ice Crusher

Whether you want to crush ice for a fruit slushy, a sophisticated cocktail or just to pop in your ice bucket to cool your champagne, wine bottles and beer, this ice crusher is quick and simple to use. All you have to do is fill the top chamber with ice, turn it on, and wait for ice to collect in the jug underneath.

Top Tip: If you use supermarket-bought ice cubes, use a rolling pin to smash the ice in the bag a bit first to speed up your ice crushing process.

Can You Change the Size of Ice Shavings?

Yes, just turn the dial on the front of the machine to pick between fine or coarse to change the size of the crushed ice produced.

Can You Use this Ice Crusher for Cocktails?

Absolutely! It’s great for making both crushed ice cocktails and mocktails. Crushed ice is typically used in julep, tiki, cobbler, and other spirit cocktails that need dilution. As well as cooling a drink, ice dilutes it and this can greatly improve the taste of some spirits. The small size of the crushed ice is great for use with drinks that include lots of fancy syrups and juices as it adds the right amount of dilution while keeping them consistently chilled.

Is It a Good Slushie Maker?

You can definitely make slushies with this ice crusher machine although it works in a different way to traditional slushy makers. With this machine you should pour syrups in the jug first rather than through the top of the machine. The stirrer will turn constantly whilst the ice is crushing to mix in your chosen flavours - however, don’t add lots of liquid as you don’t want to be cleaning up spills as a result of the mixing.

You don’t need to add salt to the top of this machine either. Salt makes ice melt but keeps the freezing temperature lower, so you drink stays chilled for longer. If you want to add ice, stir it in after you’ve made your slushie.

How Much Ice does this Slushy Maker Machine Create?

This machine will grind 250g of ice in each 5 cycle period. You should only run your ice crusher for 60 seconds at a time to prevent overheating, and allow a further 60 seconds between each crushing to let the machine cool down. Not only does this extend the life of your machine, it stops the heat of the motor melting your ice before you crush it. Allow a 30 min cooling down period after you’ve completed 5 consecutive ice crushing cycles.

Is this Ice Crusher Machine Easy to Clean?

The ice crushing machine is easy to disassemble for cleaning. You can remove the jug, stirrer and lid to wash them under the tap or with warm soapy water. You can also pour some water through the machine to clean out the dispensing shoot. No parts of this crushed ice maker are dishwasher safe. Please take care when cleaning the ice crushing chamber as it contains sharp blades.

Do I Need to Add Salt like I Do with Other Slushie Makers?

No - do not put salt in this machine as it potentially damage the motor and workings of the machine. Other slushy makers recommend salt as it lowers the freezing temperature of water and keeps your ice colder for longer. If you do want to use salt, make sure you add it to the crushed ice afterwards.

ICE CRUSHER RECIPES

Elderflower & Green Tea Breeze

  • 1 Cup Tepid Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 Green Tea Bags
  • Elderflower Tonic Water
  • 1 Glass of Crushed Ice
  • 1 Wedge of Lime

Start by making a green tea syrup. Put the water and sugar in a saucepan and simmer until all sugar is dissolved. Immediately add the green tea bags and stir occasionally as the water cools down (don’t poke or stir too much as you don’t want to split the tea bags. If you do, strain the syrup when it’s cold).

Once your syrup is cold add the crushed ice to your cocktail glass, pour over the syrup and top up with elderflower tonic water. Stir well and garnish with a lime wedge.

Spiced Iced Coffee

  • 4 Shots of Espresso
  • 380ml Whole Milk
  • 200g Granulated Sugar
  • 120ml Water
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks

Make a cinnamon syrup by placing the water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan over a medium heat. Bring it to the boil then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer until all the sugar is dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool the combine it with the espresso and milk. Fill your serving glasses with crushed ice then pour the latte mix over the top.

Ice Crusher Slushie Maker

Ice maker is my favourite gadget. It takes a little time to get started and can't see any differance really between the small and large size ice so will stick to the small as it's quicker best to start it before you need thr ice so you have plenty at hand. Bought it to use at our caravan as freezer only has two drawers and a 10 minute walk to buy a bag of ice so now problem solved ice available all the time. Will be put to the test when my 'gin and tonic loads of ice' friend's are here this week but after a couple of tries am sure it will cope!!!!! Only tried the ice crusher once but the instructions say to only use it for a minute at a time so will wait and see how it stands up to making lots of cocktails. Would be ok for slush drinks for kids I think.
