How Is It Gluten Free?

Our mix is 100% gluten free and safe for gluten intolerant or sensitive people to consume due to the use of rice flour, potato starch, and buckwheat flour.  With this generous 500g pack of Andrew James Gluten Free Brownie Mix, you can make approximately 12 servings.  

Is There Any Direction for Use? 

Yes - we have a chocolate brownie recipe that is really easy to follow. Place 500g of dry gluten free mix into a mixing bowl and add 4 eggs. Blend for 1 minute on slow speed. Scrape down and add 165g of melted butter before mixing for a further 1 minute on slow speed. Then, scrape down again and mix for a further 1 minute on slow speed. Add the mixture to the baking tin and bake at 190oC/375F/Gas Mark 5 (fan oven 170oC).  

Please note that this product is exempt from the Andrew James 2-year warranty and products received may have a short shelf life. Also, please be aware that food items are non-returnable.

How Should I Store My Chocolate Brownies?

Once cooled, cut your brownies into portions and then store in an airtight container. Depending on the ambient heat they should be OK for a couple of days but when they taste this good, they are unlikely to remain untouched for more than a couple of hours!

Can I Make a Cake from this Mix?

You could turn this into a cake mix but it will be very gooey in the middle because of the density of the mix compared to a tray bake. Why not bake as thin, individual layers then stack with lashings of generous chocolate buttercream in between and top off with a drizzle of caramel sauce?

Can I Use this Mix for White Chocolate Brownies?

No as this mix contains cocoa powder so it will only make traditional brownies. You could mix in white chocolate chips, or drizzle melted white chocolate over the top when you serve them though.

Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odours.

Method
To make a rich chocolate brownie:
Place 500g dry mix into a mixing bowl.
Select the beater attachment.
Add 4 eggs to the dry mix and blend for 1 minute on slow speed.
Scrape down. Add 165g melted butter and mix for a further 1 minute on slow speed.
Scrape down and mix for a further 1 minute on slow speed.
Add mixture to the baking tin and bake at 190C/375F/Gas Mark 5 (fan oven 170C).
Cooking times and temperatures may vary depending on tin size and oven used.
For a lighter cake brownie:
Follow steps 1 to 7 on the left. At step 5, increase to 1 minute on medium speed.
