WEEE REGULATIONS:Recycling your old electrical appliances:
We take our role as a responsible retailer very seriously, that is why we are supporting the new WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive from the government and doing our bit to help care for the environment.
What is WEEE?
The new directive came into effect on 1st July 2007, and is aimed at reducing the amount of WEEE sent to landfill sites. It is important to reduce the amount of WEEE going into landfill as if WEEE is left in landfill sites the substances it can contain may have an adverse health on human health and the environment.
As a retailer we are meeting our obligations under the WEEE Regulations by offering free in-store take-back to our customers. Any customer who purchases a new electrical appliance through Andrew James UK LTD can now send an old equivalent item back to us, and we will refund their postage costs. For example, if a customer buys a new electric raclette grill from us, they are entitled to return an old electric raclette grill to us. Once we receive a WEEE item we will make sure that it is not disposed of in landfill sites.
All WEEE products are now marked with a crossed out wheeled bin symbol shown below. If you have an electrical item which carries this symbol, please do not dispose of it with normal household waste.
